Whenever you try to update the EA used by VTC and you get the following error message you need to follow the steps written below:
- Remove MT4io EA from your MetaTrader's chart
- Restart MetaTrader
- Update the EA from VTC's "Setup & Configuration / Accounts" tab
- Attach the updated MT4io EA to a chart on your MetaTrader
Why does this happen?
When the MT4io EA is in use, Metatrader will keep a lock on the MT4io3.dll file. Sometimes this lock is not immediately dropped after the EA is no longer in use.
The lock prevents the new MT4io3.dll file which is shipped along with MT4io EA from overwriting the old DLL file.
Restarting Metatrader withoout the EA will ensure that the DLL file is no longer locked and can be overwritten with the updated file.
